Essence - Ink Wash Drawing

This is an ink wash drawing from way back in art college, sometime in the late '90s. I was very experimental with mediums back then. I remember finding it very hard to control. It does create some beautiful shapes in the shadows, but you can't fix your drawing when you make a mistake.

Deviant Art

I've had a DeviantArt account since 2009, but haven't done much with it until recently. I've been using it lately as it has a lot of stock photography and some of it is useful in a pinch. Also you can find PhotoShop brushes and vector shapes and a variety of other handy art references. In addition it provides interesting data when you post art; you can see who has favorited the art and what else they've favorited to give you some insight into who likes what you're posting.

It has become a place where I post drawing experiments. Some experiments include these mixed-media drawings I've been doing for fun with pen & inks coloring them with watercolors, colored pencil, and finishing them digitally. Here are some examples.

I've been working on a little card game in my "free" time, and the illustrations are all pen & ink with a bit of a goth feel to them. Recently I uncovered some old high school drawings I thought were lost forever. I'd forgotten how much I loved doing pen & ink back then, and have been finding reason to do more ink work lately. Though I'm really rusty I'm having quite some fun!

Charcoal Figure Drawing

This is one of the few old figure drawings I kept from school, it is an 18"x24" charcoal drawing down in 1 sitting (about 2 hours).
